Support Matt in Denver

Matt is currently raising support to begin a two-year ministry apprenticeship, where he will serve alongside The Heights staff in Connect and Spiritual Formation while training for future ministry.

Matt was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He grew up in a Catholic household, and was familiar with Jesus, but did not come to a true relationship with Him until his junior year in college. Matt attended Texas A&M University to study Nursing and also participated in the Corps of Cadets and the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. He put off God with the excuse that he was busy. And the lie that he was too far gone kept him from going to church with his friends who invited him.

In 2019, after his family endured a tough season of hardship, he finally agreed to go to church. The Lord met him right where he was and he realized the depths of the Lord’s love for him when he thought he was undeserving. The Lord began to undo a lot of lies and pain that Matt lived in, plugged him into Christian community, and gave him a sense of belonging through the church.

In 2021, after graduating from nursing school, the Lord moved him to Colorado, where he worked as a nurse, met and married his wife Ashley, and got involved at the Heights.

A few months ago, Matt and Ashley were considering moving back to Texas. While they were praying for direction, the Lord revealed a different and better plan for their lives, and Matt answered the call to step out of nursing and into full-time ministry at the Heights. He is excited to join the Heights team as a Ministry Apprentice to merge his love for Jesus and people as he helps people find community and deep discipleship and pursue Acts 2 realities across the city of Denver.
